Opportunities From: Elijahs Promise

THIS IS AN OFFSITE/VIRTUAL OPPORTUNITY (equivalent to 1.5 volunteer hours)!

In addition to our daily hot meals, each Elijah's Promise client receives a bagged meal. All bags must be prepared on a disinfected surface, while wearing gloves and hair tied back. Please keep these sandwiches refrigerated prior to delivery. All of our bags are composed of the following three components.  

1. Healthy Snack (Non-perishable fruit cup or granola bar)

2. Water Bottle 

3. Sandwich (deli meat only, with or without cheese)

Additional directions for composing sandwiches

1. No PB&J, tuna, veggie, chicken, or egg sandwiches. 

2. Please knock or ring bell if door is locked. 

3. Please drop off between 8-12:30pm, 7 days/week at 18 Neilson Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901

ATTENTION! THE TIME LISTED IS THE TIMEFRAME FOR DROP OFF OF THIS DONATION. THIS OPPORTUNITY IS EQUIVALENT TO 1.5 HOURS OF VOLUNTEERING. 

Not everyone can volunteer on-site, but there are plenty of ways to help from home! In addition to financial donations, volunteers of all ages can make a difference from your house, school, office, or place of worship: 

Please create snack bags that incorporate 3 of the following items; 

1. Oatmeal 

2. Nuts

3. Fruit & Vegetable Pouches or Cups

4. Fruit Snacks 

5. 100% Juice 

6. Granola Bars 

7. Peanut Butter To-Go Cups 

8. Muffins

Please do not seal snack packs so that our staff can add sandwiches if needed. 

Once bags are complete, please drop off at 18 Neilson Street in New Brunswick during the time listed.

THIS IS A VIRTUAL/OFFSITE OPPORTUNITY! Time listed is time of drop off! This is equivalent to 1.5 volunteer hours. 

Wrap a plastic fork and spoon in a napkin and secure it with a twist tie. No knives please. The part of the utensils that go into the mouth must be covered with the napkin. These items will are distributed with our meals and meal bags. 

These items must be dropped off at our 18 Neilson Street location between the hours of 8am-12:30pm.

What to Expect:

As a volunteer, you will assist with:

Setting up for the meal serviceFood preparationServing meals to guestsCleaning up afterwardOther tasks to ensure the smooth delivery of our 11:00 a.m. meal

Important Notes for Your Shift:

Be prepared to be on your feet for the entire shift. Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes.For food safety, you will be required to wear gloves and a hairnet, which will be provided. Please tie back long hair.Arrive promptly and follow staff instructions to ensure a smooth workflow.

A Few Requests:

Only sign up for a shift if you can commit to the entire time. Every role is essential to our operations.All available shifts are listed online. If no shifts are visible, it means none are available—please do not inquire about additional shifts.

COVID-19 made accessing basic hygiene needs harder than ever. Elijah's Promise seeks to provide our guests with hygiene supplies as often as possible alongside their hot to-go meals. 

Kits should be composed at home and dropped off during the time you signed up for. This is an offsite opportunity. We can validate this opportunity for 1.5 hours. 

The following items, in travel sizes, make up an ideal hygiene kit. Donations of complete kits or kit components are welcomed. 

 Shaving cream Comb Toothbrush Toothpaste Soap/Shampoo +Hand Towel Floss Razor Deodorant
